CALL TO ACTION: Carrier of Last Resort Public Hearing in Indio

We have an urgent request for all members! We need your presence at a Public Hearing at the Indio City Hall on March 14 at 2:00 PM and/or 6:00 PM! AT&T is seeking to relieve itself of responsibility to its customers by abandoning its copper cable plant. This move would significantly reduce the need for full-time employees, removing repair deadlines imposed by the California Public Utilities Commission.

If successful, this removal could leave tens of thousands of people in rural and low-income areas without access to 911, doctors, or their families in times of emergency.

You might wonder, why should we care about AT&T when we're a local focused on Frontier? Well, if AT&T succeeds in shedding its designation as a Carrier of Last Resort, Frontier won't be far behind.

Once again, Frontier could follow suit, abandoning its copper plant and denying service to rural and low-income areas with no alternative to POTS phone lines. Our local serves customers in Anza, Sage, Aguanga, Salton Sea, White Water, Baldy, Idyllwild, and De Luz, areas where fiber service isn't available and cell service is limited or nonexistent.

If you cannot make the in-person we hope you can join our community and customers on the Virtual meeting on Tuesday 3/19 at either 2:00 PM or 6:00 PM. If you are interested in attending, please reach out to your Area Vice President.
