Verizon Acquisition Update

I am writing to share some significant news regarding our recent agreement with Verizon Communications related to their acquisition of Frontier Communications. 

This agreement represents a crucial step forward for our workforce and the customers we serve, delivering the stability that both parties deserve. Here are some key highlights of the agreement:

• Hiring Commitment: Verizon has pledged to hire 600 new union-represented employees. This is an excellent opportunity for our current members and provides new opportunities for job seekers in our community.

• Job Security: The agreement includes protections for employees, safeguarding them from layoffs for 48 months. We believe this will provide essential job stability as we navigate these changes together.

• Quality Standards: Additionally, Verizon has committed to raising service quality standards. This focus on improving service will not only benefit our workforce but also enhance the experience for our customers.

These concrete steps are designed to strengthen California’s communications workforce and improve network reliability, ultimately benefiting everyone involved. 

We believe this agreement highlights our union's commitment to advocating for our members while ensuring that our customers receive the level of service they expect and deserve. Your solidarity and support have been invaluable throughout this process.
